We recently announced that we had won the Queen's Award for volunteering. Each group is assessed on the benefit it brings to the local community and its standing within that community. This is the highest award given to volunteer groups across the UK. It is the equivalent to an MBE.
We are rightly proud that our volunteers were recognised, the work we do at Claro simply couldn't continue without all the support we receive from them. So, we decided it was only right that we celebrate the Award with the very people who had earned it.
On the 17th October we threw a party at Claro Enterprises and we all had a lovely time. The buffet was wonderful and couldn't have happened without the ongoing support from the team at CNG.
We surprised our vounteers with mini-replicas of the actual award and they were presented by Deputy Lord Lieutenant Brigadier Jonny Wardle OBE DL.
Chris Brown and Sue Brown received awards for their work in starting Claro Enterprises over 25 years ago. The other amazing volunteers who received Awards were Colin and Elizabeth Reid, Maggie Archer, Robin Wilkinson, Jim Paton, Keith Howard, Alan Croft and Raymond De Gruchy, Richard Kenny, Lynda Ross-Field and James Atkins.
We were also pleased to welcome Deputy Lord Lieutenant Jonathan Wilde, former chairman of Betty’s and Freeman of Harrogate, the Chairman of County Council Jim Clarke, Owen Jones the General Manager and of course Clients and Staff.
If you are interested in the work we do then feel free to pay us a visit. We can't promise a buffet but the kettle is always on and we'd be delighted to show you around.
