Stan joined Claro Enterprises in 1988 as a member of our Steering Group, as we navigated our way to opening an employment project for anyone suffering from mental health problems in Harrogate District. As a relative of a sufferer Stan well understood the need for a workshop with an open door where you could work when you were well, but if you were suffering a relapse you could return at any time.
When we opened Stan became a Trustee and called in at Claro every week helping with a weekly run to the local tip and many other practical jobs, always helping clients with lifts to appointments.
At the same time he ran a weekly drop in session in Wetherby which was well attended for many years.
His support at Claro and for other trustees was so appreciated by everyone. He was always enthusiastic but with an engineers solid outlook. When he retired we missed him, but he and his wife attended events and parties for many years so we could all keep in touch.
